ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - On Friday, Senator Dan Stec announced the resumption of Amtrak's Adirondack Line, which runs from Albany through the North Country and onward to Montreal. According to Feline Advocates Coming Together, a local nonprofit in Queensbury, a person witnessed the act and quickly got the cat out. A Jefferson County man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the shooting death of his wife.Scott Lee Smith II, 47, was sentenced Wednesday for the 2020 death of 46-year-old Kanokwan “Nok” Smith, according to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.On Feb. 9, Smith pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and the 30-year sentence was part of the plea agreement, the DA’s office said in a news release.On Nov. 1, 2020, Smith called 911 “claiming he had just shot his wife in self-defense at their home” in the 5400 block of West Ottawa Avenue, the release said. Smith told a dispatcher that Kanokwan had tried to kill him with a butcher knife.
