Wild place goaltender Filip Gustavsson on injured reserve

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 03:58:30 GMT

The Wild on Monday placed goaltender Filip Gustavsson on injured reserve with a lower body injury. He was hurt in the second period of a 4-2 loss last Saturday at Winnipeg.Minnesota on Sunday recalled goaltender Zane McIntyre from Iowa and he was Marc-Andre Fleury’s backup in a 3-2 loss to the Jets at Xcel Energy Center that afternoon. In 22 games this season, Gustavsson is 10-9-2 with two shutouts, a 2.96 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage. Under NHL rules, players in IR are ineligible to compete in NHL games for a period of not less than seven days.Fleury, who became the fourth goaltender in NHL history to play 1,000 games in Sunday’s loss, is expected to get the lion’s share of starts until Gustavsson returns starting Tuesday night against Calgary at the X.“I hope everything goes well and quickly for him,” Fleury said Sunday. “Gus is a huge part of our team and a good buddy. I guess that’s why there’s two goalies.”Fleury, 39, has 550 career wins, one shy of Patrick R...

Warriors have meeting to address chemistry: ‘We need to get back to playing for each other’

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 03:58:30 GMT

SAN FRANCISCO — The Warriors circled up in the locker room following a disappointing loss to the Dallas Mavericks to re-group.The message from team leaders is for players to re-focus on the collective and push individual needs to the back burner. Without throwing any teammates under the bus, some Warriors and coach Steve Kerr insinuated that some players are splintering off to tend to personal agendas. Kerr, at the podium after the team meeting, mentioned some players have a pressure to perform that’s become palpable.“We need to get back to playing for each other,” Gary Payton II said Monday at practice. “I’m pretty sure you can see it on the court, it’s just a disconnect that we have, especially on defense. And I think our offense is predicated on our defense, and it should be the other way around.”Said rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis: “The biggest takeaways from that was our energy and trying to stay positive. Bringing great energy...

Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving will play against Jazz following 12-game absence

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 03:58:30 GMT

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Kyrie Irving returned to action for the Dallas Mavericks against the Utah Jazz on Monday night after missing 12 games with a bruised right heel. Irving had been sidelined since injuring his heel against Portland on Dec. 8, and the Mavericks went 6-6 during his absence.Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said Irving will not be facing a minutes restriction. The plan is to get him reacclimated to his normal routine enough to ease the load Luka Doncic has carried without Irving.Doncic is averaging 37.1 minutes per game this season – nearly three minutes more than his career average.“That helps when you have (Irving) back and you get more bodies back,” Kidd said. “We would like to get (Doncic’s) minutes down, but if you ask him, he’s fine where he’s at. So we’ll figure it out.”Irving is averaging 23.0 points and 5.2 assists through 17 games this season. He has struggled to stay healthy, missing a total of 16 games so far due to various ailments. Before injuring his he...

Rusia lanza cifra récord de drones sobre Ucrania; Putin anuncia más ataques aéreos

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 03:58:30 GMT

Elvis, fishmongers and a Kraken win in a nautical scene for the NHL Winter Classic

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 03:58:30 GMT

SEATTLE (AP) — The part-owner of the franchise who was once more known for his exploits on the football field led the way off the bus, followed by players clad in white T-shirts and orange overalls as a tribute to the fishmongers working across town at Pike Place Market.A few minutes later, a gaggle of Elvises – or would it be Elvi? – strode their way into the stadium in white jumpsuits, sunglasses and mostly fake hair.“Believe it or not, Paul Cotter didn’t even wear a wig. That’s just naturally his hair,” Vegas’ Keegan Kolesar said. “So he was pretty spot on.”The 15th version of the NHL Winter Classic had a decidedly local flair as both the Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights tapped into two of the most well-known aspects of their communities.Eventually, the theatrics were replaced by actual hockey. Playing in front of a sellout crowd of 47,313, the Kraken posted a 3-0 victory, with Joey Daccord posting the first shutout in a Winter Classic. “Just to walk out to the ice like th...
